MODI INDIANPrime Minister Narendra Modi today defended his demonetisation move while attacking the Opposition for stalling proceedings in Parliament during Winter Session over the issue. Addressing his sixth ‘Parivartan Rally’ at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Mr Modi alleged that Parliament was not allowed to function as opposition parties were trying to defend the dishonest and were running away from a debate on the issue of corruption and black money.

Mr Modi said, at an all-party meeting convened before the Winter session of Parliament, he had suggested a debate on simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and state assemblies and donations to political parties. He said, Parliament was not allowed to function for a month as the opposition parties were not interested in a discussion on the two issue.

The Prime Minister also said, some politicians tried to provoke people standing in ATM queues, but their designs were not allowed to succeed as the common man patiently understood that larger interest of the country was at stake. He said, people in majority are with the government in the fight against corruption.

Mr Modi said, he can understand the inconvenience being faced by the people due to the demonetization move. He assured that the problem will be sorted out soon. The Prime Minister said, the government is using technology to track those who have stashed black money, and raids are being conducted country wide. During the rally, Mr Modi also criticized the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP over the law and order situation in the state.

He said, there will be no welfare of people of the state without changing the government at Lucknow. Attacking on Congress, the PM said, there was no accountability during UPA rule and country suffered a lot. He said, NDA government at the Centre has brought development and change. He said, now there is no crisis of fertilizer Urea and LPG gas in the country.

The Prime Minister said, technology and skill are very important tools to speed up development. Mr Modi said, if youth are skilled they can give new momentum to the development of the country. He said, the country is fortunate that its 65 percent population is below 35 year age.

Earlier, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the country’s first ever Indian Institute of Skills in Kanpur. The Institute has been conceptualized by Mr. Modi during his visit to Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education.

The institute is opened by the Skill Development Ministry in partnership with the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore. Mr Modi also inaugurated the Skill Exhibition for the youth. The Exhibition showcased state-of-the-art vocational training practices of various sectors.
