Various leaders of opposition have called for a united fight against the NDA Government at the Centre. In view of the 94th birthday of the DMK’s veteran leader M. Karunanidhi, a public function was organized in Chennai last evening. The day was also celebrated as the Diamond jubilee of Mr Karunanidhi’s entry into the state Assembly.
The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in his address said, the NDA Government takes unilateral decisions on crucial issues, without consulting the states. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lauded Mr Karunanidhi saying, he always fought for the cause of social justice.
CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechuri called upon all the opposition to unite against the NDA government. D Raja of the CPI said, the secular fabric of the nation should be upheld in the nation at all times. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, Derek O’Brien of the Trinamool Congress, Majeed Memon from the NCP and many others spoke in the rally.
