AMN / NEW DELHI

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, in another tweet attack, alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “personally re-negotiated” the Rafale fighter aircraft deal with France and so none of his “four revolving” defence ministers had details about it.

“Since 2014, India has had 4 revolving Raksha Mantris. Now we know why. It gave the PM space to personally re-negotiate RAFALE with the French. India has had 4 “RAFALE Mantris”. But, none of them know what really transpired in France. Except the PM. But he won’t speak!” he said in a tweet on Tuesday.

To the tweet, Gandhi attached an Amul butter advertisement with the catchline, “Pass or Rafail? Eat at Jet speed” to drive his point home.

The main opposition party has been demanding that the government reveal the price of each fighter aircraft and the total amount that India will pay for the Rafale jets, alleging that the Modi government struck the deal to purchase 36 aircraft at a higher cost than what the United Progressive Alliance government had negotiated with France.
