Surface Transport and Shipping minister Nitin Gadkari today said under Bharatmala project one crore jobs will be created as this is the biggest infrastructure project of the country. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Mr Gadkari said tribal and border areas and economically backward districts have been especially considered and it will give major fillip to infrastructure in the country.
He said 44 economic corridors being created with thrust on job creation. The minister said 35 logistic parks are being developed with two multimedia hubs being set up in Nagpur and Varanasi.
Mr Gadkari said 550 districts will be covered under Bharatmala project as against earlier 300 districts. He also highlighted 185 choke points identified to decongest corridors. The minister said multimodal freight movement via seven waterway terminals on river Brahmaputra. He also said 28 ring roads are being planned and express highways being constructed.
