Four hundred 22 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country so far. Out of the total Omicron cases, Maharashtra has reported one hundred eight cases, followed by Delhi 79, Gujarat 43 cases and Telangana 41 cases. Union Health Ministry said, till now, 130 people have recovered from the infection.

Centre deploys multi-disciplinary teams in ten States to contain COVID-19

MEANWHILE Multi-disciplinary Central teams have been deployed in ten identified States which are reporting rise in Covid 19 cases including new variant Omicron and slow vaccination. Union Health Ministry said, the teams have been sent to Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Mizoram, Karnataka, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Punjab.

These teams will be stationed in States for 3 to 5 days and will work along with State Health Authorities in the management of Covid-19.

The teams will specifically look at areas of contact tracing, including surveillance and containment operations and COVID-19 testing including sending of adequate samples from clusters for genome sequencing. The teams will also focus on ensuring COVID appropriate behaviour, availability of hospital beds, sufficient logistics including ventilators and medical oxygen.

They will also look at COVID-19 vaccination progress. The central teams will assess the situation, suggest remedial actions and submit a report every evening on the public health activities being undertaken.

Over 141 crore 37 lakh vaccine doses administered in country so far

More than 141 crore 37 lakh COVID vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. Health Ministry said, more than 32 lakh 90 thousand doses were administered in the last 24 hours. The Ministry said a total of 6 thousand 987 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active caseload stands at 76 thousand 766. The active cases account for less than one percent of total cases and is currently at 0.22 percent, the lowest since March 2020. The recovery rate is currently at 98.40 percent, the highest since March,2020. A total of 7 thousand 91 people recovered in the last 24 hours and total recoveries touched over three crore 42 lakh and 30 thousand.

The weekly positivity rate currently stands at 0.62 percent which is less than one percent for the last 42 days. Daily positivity rate is at 0.74 percent which is less than two percent for last 83 days.

Over 66 crore 19 lakh COVID tests have been conducted in the country so far. In the last 24 hours, more than 9 lakh 45 thousand tests were conducted.
