Union Budget 2021-22 has allocated 5,528 crore rupees for Railway projects in Odisha. This represents a whooping increase of about 560 per cent as against the average allocation between the year 2009 to 2014, which stood at 838 crore rupees. AIR correspondent reports that out of the total 56 projects prioritised by the Indian Railways to be completed by the end of this as well as the next fiscal, at least five projects fall in Odisha, either wholly or partially.

Out of these five, while the 32 km-long Khurdha Road-Baranga Railway Project is said to be completed by June this year, the 168 km-long Sambalpur-Talcher, 106 km-long Sambalpur-Titlagarh and the 164 km-long Bansapani-Daitari-Tomka-Jakhapura, all doubling projects are targeted to be finished by December this year. Similarly, the 203 kilometre-long Raipur-Titlagarh Rail Project that partially relate to Odisha is set to see completion by December this year.
