In Kerala, the total number of infected COVID 19 patients has risen to 181. AIR correspondent reports, 20 more Covid 19 positive cases are confirmed in Kerala, taking the total number of infected patients in the State to 181. Among the newly confirmed cases, 18 people had returned from the Gulf region and one is a health worker.
Kasargode is the worst-hit district where alone the total number of Covid-19 patients is over 80. State Health Minister K.K.Shailaja said that the Rapid test will be started soon to find out the possibility of community spread in the State. Meanwhile, the Government is planning to deliver essential services online in the State. Travel passes can also be applied online. More than 1,40,000 people are under observation in the State. People at large are completely cooperating with the lockdown in the State.
In Tamil Nadu, the total number of Covid-19 patients has gone up to fifty with eight new cases reported today. State health secretary Beela Rajesh told reporters in Chennai this evening that all eight new cases are from Erode. They had contacts with the two confirmed cases from Thailand who are now admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital at Perundurai in Erode. They include four from a single-family.
Meanwhile, two other patients have been discharged after their complete recovery.
The state administration has increased the number of beds in Covid-19 special wards to 17-thousand. The Government Medical College Hospital at Perundurai in Erode is also getting converted into an exclusive center for treating the infectious disease.
