Supreme Court has asked Delhi govt to reply in 3 weeks on Centre’s plea for stay of High Court order holding its notification limiting power of anti-graft panel as suspect.
The apex Court today heard Centre’s plea against the Delhi High Court order calling its May 21st notification as suspect. Supreme court , however, clarified that at this stage there is no stay on the observations by Delhi High Court. It also asked the High Court to proceed on Delhi Govt’s fresh petition independently without being influenced by observations made in May 25 verdict. Delhi high court is simultaneously hearing today the AAP government’s plea challenging the notification that gives the Lieutenant Governor absolute powers in appointing bureaucrats in the national capital.
The AAP govt has also challenged the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as acting chief secretary by Lieutenant Governor. It was the appointment which was the flash point of a tussle between the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor.
