Government today said that it has not received any proposal for filling up of the six vacancies of Judges in the Supreme Court.
In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Law and Justice and Corporate Affairs, PP Chaudhary said there are six vacancies of Judges in the Supreme Court.
He said the initiation of the proposal for appointment of Judges is done by the Chief Justice in consultation with a Collegium of four senior-most Judges of the apex court.
Mr Chaudhary said so far as other staffs in the Supreme Court is concerned, the apex court has informed that there are about 246 vacancies in various cadres.
The Minister said the process of filling up vacancies by way of promotion and direct recruitment is a continuing process and there is no delay in filling up the vacancies.
