Under a banner of ‘Not in my Name’, thousands of people in different cities of the country today marched to express Outrage against Lynch and Bloodshed in the name of religion. These were silent protests with no involvement of any political parties.
The people who came were from all walks of life – writers, academics, journalists, activists senior citizens, students, professionals – united in saying that these killings are ‘not in my name’.

Last Friday, about 20 men attacked four Muslims on a train in the outskirts of New Delhi, fatally stabbing a teenager and seriously injuring two others.
Big march and gathering were seen in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna & Other towns.
In Delhi, writers, academics, journalists, activists and politicians without party banner gravitated at historic Jantar Mantar to the protest # Not In My Name. It culminated into a protest Music Concert.
In Mumbai, actors Konkana Sen, Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Nandita Das and Shabana Azmi and many others braved the heavy rains to attend the protest. It rained and pured except for a brief lull of 35 minutes during the two hour protest but the 400 plus band of supporters stood in the rain, at the Carter Road promenade and protested.
In Lucknow, protesters are seen sporting black armbands. In Kolkatta activists and celebrities like Aparna Sen were seen together, protesting in anger and outrage.
