Appreciates India for humanitarian assistance

Foreign Minister of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Ri Su Yong is on a two day visit to India (12-14 April). This is the first ever visit at the Foreign Minister level from DPRK to India. He came to India at the invitation of Minister of External Affairs Mrs Sushma Swaraj,

The Foreign Minister level talks were held in a frank and friendly atmosphere where issues of mutual interest including India’s security concerns came up for discussion. EAM conveyed to her Korean counterpart the significance of peace and stability in the Korean peninsula for India’s Act East policy.

Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong expressed his country’s appreciation for the humanitarian assistance provided by India to DPRK and in this regard sought additional assistance. EAM agreed to positively consider DPRK’s request.

The DPRK Foreign Minister thanked EAM for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He invited EAM to visit DPRK. EAM thanked her counterpart for the invitation.

Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong also called on Vice President Hamid Ansari.
