heatwaveNorth India continues to reel under severe heat condition with high humidity. Hot and humid conditions were also reported from several other states besides Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Met department has warned that severe heat wave conditions are very likely at isolated places over Rajasthan. It has also said that Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, south Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are also likely to experience heat wave conditions today.

In Uttar Pradesh, despite predictions of dust and thunderstorms, weather in most parts of the state remained sultry and uncomfortable for the fifth consecutive day today. State MeT director, JP Gupta said, the moisture laden easterly winds are responsible for the high humidity. ​

Hot and humid conditions were also reported from other parts of the state. Moderate rains and thunder showers were reported from some places, including Bahraich and Pilibhit. However, Bundelkhand and adjoining areas continued to reel under the heat wave with maximum temperatures soaring over 44 degrees Celsius in Allahabad, Jhansi, Banda and Etawah.

Experts say that there will be no reprieve from the uncomfortable heat, till Wednesday.​ ​Sultry weather and frequent tripping of power made it difficult for people at various places including Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Varanasi and Allahabad on Sunday.

Together with high humidity levels, the weather remained uncomfortable in the capital city Lucknow both during day and night on Sunday. While Amroha today experienced a dust storm. The Met department has predicted that monsoon in the state may arrive roughly around 20th June.

The entire Rajasthan is under the grip of heat wave conditions. Churu and Sriganganagar districts today have recorded 44.4 degree Celsius temperature at 11 am followed by Bikaner with 43.6 degree, Barmer with 42 degree and Udaipur with 41.8 degree Celsius temperatures. Normal life has been affected in western parts of the state due to heat wave conditions. Following a long spell of heat wave conditions various districts in the state are facing scarcity of drinking water.
