The heat wave conditions continued to prevail at most part of western Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Haryana, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra. The MeT department said, there will be no significant change in maximum temperatures over northwest, west and central India during next 2 to 3 days.
The national capital also continued to reel under intense heat wave condition with the maximum temperature hitting 47 degrees today. The met department has declared an orange alert to denote the continuing heat wave. The heat is mostly attributed to dry winds from the north-western direction.
In Uttar Pradesh, there is no respite from scorching weather for last many days. According to met department Banda crossed again its previous day peak and registered 47.2 degree celsius maximum temperature today. Except Gorakhpur division in other parts of state maximum temperature was between 40 to 46 degree celsius.
Allahabad recorded 46.7 degree celsius, Jhansi 46.4, Orai 46 degree celsius. Agra ,Hamirpur and Mainpuri also recorded maximum temperature above 45 degree Celsius .In view of hot weather, the Allahabad district administration has ordered to close all school and colleges up to class 12th till 20th of this month.
Meanwhile, the deep depression over south-west Bay of Bengal is expected to move further in the north-eastward direction and intensify into a cyclone. IMD has said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and south interior Karnataka during next 48 hours. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha coasts during next 48 hours.
