indian armyGovernment has no plans to deploy the Army to tackle the problem of Left Wing Extremism despite reverses being faced by paramilitary and police forces.

Home Ministry officials said, it is an internal security issue and there is no question of deploying the Army in anti-Naxal operations.

They said, since it is considered as a law and order problem, paramilitary and police forces will continue to deal with the Maoists.

The Centre will take a high-level meeting of top officials of several states on the eighth of next month to review its strategy against Left Wing Extremism.

Talking to reporters in Raipur, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, he will chair the meeting, which comes in the wake of yesterday’s attack on CRPF in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

Rajnath Singh called the attack, in which 25 Jawans lost their lives, as a cold-blooded murder and dubbed Maoists as the biggest enemy of tribals and the poor.

Earlier this morning, the Home minister paid homage to the martyred CRPF personnel. After reaching Raipur, he headed to the headquarters of the 4th battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Mana camp area where the wreath- laying ceremony was held.

He also held a meeting with the chief minister and other senior officials of the state.
