Supreme Court today refused to give verdict on a plea seeking its intervention to pass judgment on Jallikattu before the pongal festivities to be held on Saturday.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Centre to consider promulgating an ordinance to enable the conduct of the sport.
Apex court had earlier dismissed the plea of the Tamil Nadu government seeking review of its 2014 judgement banning use of bulls for jallikattu events in the state and bullock-cart races across the country.
