NEW DELHI: Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day, as the opposition continued its demand for a JPC probe into the 2G Spectrum allocation and other corruption cases. The Presiding Officers of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha adjourned the houses first till noon and later for the day. This is the tenth consecutive day that the stalemate has continued over the 2G spectrum issue with both the government and Opposition refusing to budge from their positions. It was the repeat of scenes witnessed since the Winter Session began on November 9, with members of the Opposition parties rushing to the well in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to demand JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam. Today also the BJP led Opposition members trooped into the wells of the two houses raising slogans in support of their demand. Some Congress members were also seen carrying placards calling for the sacking of the Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for the alleged land allotment to his family members and the Orissa Chief Minister, Navin Patnaik, for his alleged involvement in a land scam in the state.
The Lok Sabha Speaker, Mrs. Meira Kumar today appealed to both the government and the opposition to resolve the standoff on the demand for a JPC probe into the 2G Spectrum issue to ensure smooth running of both the houses. Mrs. Kumar was talking to reporters outside Parliament.

Senior CPIM leader, Sitaram Yechuri reiterated his party’s demand for a JPC. He said the government should not ignore the opposition demand as the 2G spectrum issue involves one lakh 76 thousand crore rupees compared to cases into which JPCs have been set up in the past.
The JPC demand has rocked both the houses of Parliament for the 10th working day in a row with the opposition members stalling proceedings.
Congress Spokesperson Manish Tiwari said the opposition should allow Parliament to function.
Members of Parliament belonging to the Samajwadi Party today staged a dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament House complex demanding a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum issue. Speaking to reporters, party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said the government should constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee Probe immediately. He said, if the government fails to set up the JPC, his party will take the issue to the masses. AIR
