Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said there would be no dilution of reservation policy for Dalits, tribals and marginalised section of the society  in the country. PM said that it was a right that nobody can snatch away.

Delivering Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture in New Delhi Monday morning, Mr Modi said, untruths on reservation are being spread by opponents for political reasons.

He said, no damage was done to quota during the BJP governments. Remembering Dr Ambedkar, he said, Babasaheb was the voice of the marginalised and was an ardent advocate of education for all.

The Prime Minister said that he fought for the rights of women when the Hindu Code Bill was being introduced. He said Dr Ambedkar called for labour reforms and at the same time thought of industrialization for the progress of India.

He said, Ambedkar’s vision is still relevant today.

The Prime Minister said, Dr Ambedkar had a vision to realise India’s maritime resources, power sector and many things and he gave inner power to people by compelling people to be knowledgeable.

Hailing Ambedkar as a man with vision, the Prime Minister said that India owes the foundation of its labour laws and rights to Babasaheb.

Expressing anguish over the recognition of such a great leader after 60 years of his death Mr Modi said, it took 60 years for building a memorial of such a great leader as Ambedkar, who departed earth in 1956.

Calling Ambedkar bigger than being just the Messiah of Dalits, Mr Modi called him a global leader and an inspiration for all who set up an example by working towards the upliftment of the downtrodden.

Comparing Ambedkar with Martin Luther King, he said that Baba Saheb was as iconic as Martin Luther who worked for the betterment of the oppressed.

Paying tributes to Ambedkar’s economic philosophy, the Prime Minister said, farmers’ welfare also figured in Ambedkar’s philosophy and in order to realise his dreams, Government will launch E-Marketing platform on April 14th that will help enable farmers get updated information about market rates of agri products.
