Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said, there should be no compromise on matters relating to national security and terrorism must be dealt with firmly.
Mrs Gandhi, in a message, expressed deep anguish at the loss of lives due to violence in parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the past few days.
She appealed people in the valley to allow political parties to find durable and enduring ways of fulfilling their aspirations meaningfully in a peaceful and democratic manner.
Meanwhile Congress party has requested the government to take measures to contain the strife in Jammu and Kashmir. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, government should deal firmly with misguided youth.
When asked about convening an all party meeting to discuss security situation in the state, Mr Singhvi said, his party favours such a meeting for constructive suggestions. The spokesperson also requested the Army and state police to observe restraint to the maximum extent possible while dealing with the locals.
