Senior BJP leader and Gujarat minister of health and family welfare is most likely to replace Anandiben as State chief minister. Nitin Bhai patel had a long meeting with paty president Amit Shah and Prime minister naredndra Modi in New Delhi.
Anandiben was handpicked by Narendra Modi as the CM of Gujarat after he took over as the Prime Minister in 2013.
The speculations gained momentum after Anandiben Patel also met met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and discuss a host of issues in the state. Gujarat will go to polls next year. Nitinbhai was the head of the committee which was involved in negotiation with Patel agitation leaders.
Sources say one of the major reasons behind Anandiben’s exit is poor handling of Hardik Patel-led quota agitation in Gujarat.
It is being speculated that Anandiben Patel may be made the Punjab Governor.
In the last year’s municipal elections, the BJP suffered a huge setback in the rural areas. The BJP, however, was still ahead in all the six municipal corporations that went to polls, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Vadodara. All the municipal corporations were earlier held by BJP.
The Congress surged ahead in nine district panchayats of Gujarat while the BJP was leading in four out of the total 31 district panchayats that went to polls.
