AMN /

usman khanPolice and National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths in Jammu & Kashmir, have arrested four accomplices of Pakistani militant Naved alias Usman Khan, who was captured after an attack on BSF in Udhampur on August 05.

Usman, hailing from Faisalabad, was overpowered by villagers after he and a fellow Pakistani militant Noman had on Wednesday ambushed a BSF convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur district killing two constables. Noman was also killed in a retaliatory fire.

Sources confirmed that the arrests were made from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district hours after the NIA brought Naved to the Kashmir Valley from Jammu region by road to identify those who helped him reach Udhampur where he was caught.

NIA took Usman to Pulwama and Kulgam districts following disclosures by him. The arrested people have been identified as Fayaz Ahmed Wani and Javed Ahmed Wani – both brothers – Mohammad Altaf Wani and Javed Ahmed Parray.

All are residents of Pulwama district. Fayaz Ahmed Wani and Javed Ahmed Wani were working as carpenters for a contractor in the Indian Airforce Station (IAF) station in Awantipora, while Md Altaf Wani and Parray were a salesman and a driver respectively.

Intelligence sources said the arrested people were part of a Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) sleeper cell in the Kashmir Valley. Sources said that more arrests were likely to take place following the leads given by the arrested Pak militant.

Reports said Police on Saturday raided many places in south Kashmir and arrested some people who allegedly have provided shelter or allegedly helped Udhampur attack accused Mohammad Naveed during his stay in the valley.

Presently, Jammu & Kashmir Police and NIA are jointly investigating the Udhampur attack case and the sleuths of JKP and NIA are working together to reconstruct events of how he spent nearly two months in the Kashmir valley.
