National Human Rights Commission has issued notice to Uttar Pradesh government over reports of two policemen setting afire a woman in Barabanki. Taking a suo motu cognizance of media reports, the Commission has asked the the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the state to submit a report within four weeks. NHRC said, according to the media report, two policemen poured petrol and set a hapless woman afire when she resisted their attempt to rape her at Kothi Police Station of Uttar Pradesh on 6th of this month.
