National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to Rajasthan government over reported police brutality, illegal arrest and false implication of several Dalits in the state after the protest against the Apex Court order on SC/ST Act.
Taking suo moto cognizance of a media report, the commission issued a notice to the Chief Secretary and has called for a report within six weeks.
The commission said the news report has mentioned several incidents of abuse of power by the police in which, even the women and children were not spared.
NHRC has observed that the allegations of illegal arrest and implication of people in false criminal cases, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victims.
