The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today issued notice to Rajasthan government over the reported death of 11 children under mysterious circumstances in Jaipur. Taking a suo motu cognizance of media reports, the Commission asked state Chief Secretary, DGP and Director General of Health Services to submit reports in the matter within two weeks.
Reports say that 11 children with special needs, living in a State-run rehabilitation home in Jaipur have died under mysterious circumstances in the last 12 days.
Allegations of government’s failure in maintaining the upkeep of the home have also been reported as the reason behind the incident. The children were referred to hospitals when their condition deteriorated, probably after drinking contaminated water.
