United Democratic Madhesi Front in Nepal, has agreed to participate in local polls and decision was taken after government accepted their demands and agreed to revise constitution amendment bill.

After a series of hectic talks held at Prime Minister’s residence since Friday morning the ruling parties and Sanghiya Gathbandan an alliance of Madhesi and Janjati parties finally reached on an agreement last night.

The Government has accepted demand of constitution amendment on re-demarcation of provincial boundaries, more representation, language and citizenship. Both sides also agreed to have local elections in two phases. The first phase polls will be held as per schedule on May 14.

The date of second phase elections will be decided in consultation with the election commission. After the agreement Sanghiya Gatbandhan has decided to postpone its agitation. The agreement will be endorsed in the cabinet meeting to be held today.
