The Nepal parliament meeting to elect new prime minister has been postponed till Tuesday. The meeting was scheduled at 11 AM today but it was first postponed till 3 PM and again till Tuesday 1 PM. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is the only candidate for premiership.

The parliament meeting scheduled to elect new prime minister could not take place as main opposition CPN (UML) is not ready to allow house proceedings.

The party is demanding resumption of counting of votes at Bharatpur Metropolitan City. The counting was stopped after an incident of ballot paper tearing was reported in ward no.19. The Election Commission has declared all votes of ward 19 invalid and decided to hold re-election.

Meanwhile a writ petition has been filed in Supreme court against the decision of Election Commission. Efforts are on to resolve deadlock. Though the process of electing new prime minister is delayed but keeping in view the ruling coalition majority in parliament Sher Bahadur Deuba is set to take charge prime minister fourth time.
