At least 20 persons have died and 16 injured after a bus plunged into Trishuli River in Dhading district of Nepal this morning. Many persons are also missing. Superintendent of Police, Dhadhing, Dhrubaraj Raut told our Kathmandu correspondent that 19 bodies have been recovered so far.

Two injured passengers have been sent to Trauma Center in Kathmandu, while 14 others have been admitted to the local hospital. The rescue and search operation is on. SP Raut said that as per the preliminary reports accident might have occurred due to loss of control by the driver on a sharp curve and narrow road.

The exact number of passengers travelling in the bus is not yet known but according to some injured passengers around 40 people were on board.The ill-fated bus was on its way to Kathmandu from Rajbiraj.
