People across India reposed faith in politics of development: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today lauded victory of NDA candidates in assembly by-polls in different states, saying people across the country have reposed their faith in politics of development and Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. In a tweet, Mr. Modi said he was happy over the results and thanked the people for their support. The BJP and its NDA allies today won seven out of 12 seats in eight states, including Muzaffarnagar constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

In Uttar Pradesh, BJP and Congress snatched one seat each from it in the bypolls for three assembly seats. Congress’s Mawaia Ali won the Deoband seat by a margin of 3424 votes defeating his nearest rival Meena Rana of the SP. BJP’s Kapil Deo Agarwal won the Muzaffarnagar seat while ruling Samajwadi Party has retained its seat in Bikapur. Party’s Anand Sen Yadav defeated his nearest rival RLD candidate Munna Singh Chauhan.

In Maihar Assembly Constituency in Madhya Pradesh, BJP’s Narayan Tripathi defeated his nearest Congress rival Manish Patel by over 28 thousand votes.

In Punjab, ruling SAD won the bypoll to Khadoor Sahib Assembly seat, with party candidate Ravinder Singh Brahmpura defeating his nearest rival Independent candidate Bhupinder Singh by a margin of 65,664 votes. Main opposition parties Congress and Aam Aadmi Party had stayed out of the contest.

In Karnataka, the BJP has won two seats out of the three seats to which by elections were held. In Hebbal constituency, the BJP candidate Y A Narayana Swamy defeated his nearest rival C.K. Abdul Rahman Sharief. In Deodurg, Shivaram Gowda Naik of BJP trounced his nearest rival Rajasekhara Naik of Congress. In Bidar constituency, Rahim Khan of Congress defeated the BJP candidate Prakash Khandre. In Bihar, Rashtriya Lok Samata Party, an ally of NDA, retained its Harlakhi seat in Assembly by-polls.

In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena retained the Palghar Assembly seat with its nominee Amit Ghoda defeating Congress candidate Rajendra Gavit.

In Telengana,Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) wrested the Narayankhed Assembly seat in Medak district from Congress with its candidate Bhupal Reddy winning the seat by a margin of 53,625 votes.

In Tripura, ruling CPI-M today won the Amarpur Assembly by-election in with party candidate Parimal Debnath trouncing his nearest rival BJP candidate.
