Close on heel of killing of seven STF personnel, the Naxals today set ablaze at least 17 vehicles engaged in mining work in insurgency-hit Kanker district in Chhattisgarh,. Police said no one was hurt in the incident. The incident comes a day after naxals killed seven policemen in an ambush in Sukma district.
Kanker Superintendent of Police Jitendera Singh Meena said that a group of armed naxals raided the Barbaspur iron ore mining site under Korar police station. He said after threatening the labourers, the naxals torched 17 vehicles engaged in mining work. He said the Maoists fled into the forest after torching the vehicles.
