People across the country are remembering former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 31st martyrdom anniversary today. A remembrance function is being organised at Shakti Sthal, the memorial of Indira Gandhi in the National capital. Eminent leaders and other dignitaries will pay tributes to her at her memorial.
A series of functions will be organised to highlight the contribution of Mrs Gandhi in the nation building. She was assassinated by her own bodyguards on this day in 1984. Indira Gandhi award for national integration will also be presented today.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes to Mrs Gandhi at Shakti Sthal.
