NEW DELHI: (AMN) Nation on Sunday remembers first prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru at his 121st birth anniversary. The day is being celebrated across the country as children day . Several programmes are being organized in different places on this to remember his services to the nation. At his ancestral home at Ananad Bhawan in Allahabad, several congress leaders including city Mayor Jitendra Nath, local citizens and school children’s paid floral tributes to Nehru. In the state capital Lucknow, the Congress leaders paid tribute to Nehru at party headquarters. In many places in the state, Bal Mela’s (children’s fair) are also being organized.
On Bal Divas child rights fair are being held for school children at district level. In these fairs school children are being informed about their rights, gender discrimination, nutrition and personal sanitation. Experts from different sectors are interacting with kids. Balsabhas are also being held in Aanganwadis in coordination with local schools. In capital Bhopal painting, debate, quiz and other competitions are being held.
Meanwhile the President, vice President and the Prime Minister joined the Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today in paying tributes to the the architect of modern India. In the national capital, an all religion prayer meeting was held at his memorial Shanti Van this morning. Floral Tributes were also paid to his portrait at the central hall in parliament by various leaders.
