Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla and MoS G.M. Siddeshwara have tendered their resignations to Prime Minister Narender Modi on Tuesday.
President Pranab Mukherjee accepted the Ministers’ resignation with immediate effect. President Pranab Mukherjee has directed MA Naqvi, Minister of State, to take over as Independent charge of Ministry of Minority Affairs.
Babul Supriyo, is assigned the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises. He will be relieved of charge of MoS in Ministry of Urban Development, and MoS in Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation.
As advised by the Prime Minister of India, the President has directed that –
i) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State, shall be assigned the Independent charge of the Ministry of Minority Affairs;
ii) Babul Supriyo, Minister of State shall be relieved of the charge of Minister of State in the Ministry of Urban Development, and Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation; and
iii) Babul Supriyo, shall be assigned the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
