Nagaland Government has created three new districts namely Tseminyu, Nuiland and Chumukedima. The state has now a total of 15 districts. Tseminyu became the 13th district followed by Nuiland and Chumukedima as 14th and 15th Districts respectively. The decision was taken during a state cabinet meeting held under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today at Kohima.

Addressing a press conference today, MLA & Advisor for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Women Resources Development, Mr. R Khing said, the Nagaland cabinet under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio decided the creation of three new districts – Tseminyu, Niuland and Chümukedima as the 13th, 14th and 15th districts in the State.

The Advisor who is the MLA from Tseminyu termed December 18 as a historic day for the Rengma community. He said Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio managed to convince all the cabinet to grant districts not only to Tseminyu but also Niuland and Chumukedima.

On behalf of the Rengma Community, Mr. Khing expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the Cabinet members for fulfilling their long-cherished dream.

Also, taking to Twitter, Minister PHED, Mr. Jacob Zhimomi shared his delight in the creation of Niuland and Chumukedima under his assembly constituency as a new district today by the state cabinet.
