In an interesting political development, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has stepped down from his post ahead of floor test. He tendered his resignation to Governor Tataghata Roy at the Raj Bhawan in Itanagar today. He also resigned as the the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, CLP.

A Government spokesperson Bamang felix said during the Congress Legislature Party meeting Nabam Tuki proposed Pema Khandu as the next CLP leader and the new Chief Minister.

The proposal for Pema Khandu as the next CLP leader was unanimously accepted by all the 43 members present in the CLP meeting. All the rebel MLAs were also present in the meeting including Kalikho Pul.

Pema khandu is the son of former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh late Dorjee Khandu and MLA of Moktu constituency in Tawang district. Pema Khandu has met Governor Tathagata Roy to stake claim to from the government. He has also asked the Governor not to hold the floor test as the CLP leader has been changed now and he has got the support of 47 MLAs including the two independent MLAs.
