Immediately after receiving the President’s approval, Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra today issued a Proclamation to impose Governor’s rule in the state. BJP yesterday pulled out of the coalition government with PDP in the state, after which Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tendered her resignation. President Ram Nath Kovind, later, approved the imposition of Governor’s rule for six months with immediate effect.

The Governor today held discussions with Chief Secretary B B Vyas and identified major issues that need to be dealt with in a strict time-bound manner. Mr Vohra is meeting with senior officers of Civil, Police, Forest and other departments today to gear up the state administrative machinery. The meeting will be followed by a Security Review Meeting in the afternoon.
