Mumbai police are probing an e-mail threat to Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan, allegedly made by an unidentified person with possible links to the terror outfit Islamic State. Mumbai Police sources said earlier this month, Rajan received this mail on his personal E-mail Id with the sender threatening to eliminate him.
Though the content of the mail is not known, Mumbai Police has confirmed this development. Maharashtra’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) K P Bakshi told in Mumbai today that the said e-mail was received a few days back following which the RBI Governor’s security has been beefed up.
The ID starts with Iraq-based terrorist outfit Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of the police is looking into it. Sources say, the Mumbai police have sent requests to Google in the US to provide them details about the email ID.
