Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra have been experiencing heavy rainfall since today morning leading to death of two persons in Nanded district.
Besides, two persons were reported to have been injured in a wall collapse in Ghatkopar area of Suburban Mumbai. There are also reports of water logging in some parts of the state.
Meanwhile, IMD had issued orange alert for Thane, Raigad, Nashik and Yellow for Palghar, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Pune for today.
The eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai have been receiving continuous rains since today morning. However, there are no major cases of water logging in the city yet and trains and vehicular traffic are running normally. Two persons have been reported to have been injured in a wall collapse in suburban Ghatkopar area of Mumbai.
Adjoining areas of Mumbai including Palghar and Navi Mumbai have also been experiencing heavy rains. Roads are flooded in many places in Palghar. The district received an average rainfall of 52.61 mm today. Navi Mumbai recorded 20.36 mm of rain in last two hours. In Nanded district two women drowned when the bullock cart on which they were sitting was washed away while crossing Hulaiwadi river.
Three other people on the same cart however survived. A landslide at Kannada Ghat of Aurangabad has affected the vehicular movement in the area. The District Administration has appealed to people to temporarily postpone the journey. Buldhana, Beed, Jalna, Jalgaon districts also received good rainfall due to which few dams and rivers are over flowing. Flood like situation is also reported in some places in the state.
