In a major political development, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today expelled Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and Rajya Sabha MP, Ramgopal yadav from party saying they were involved in anti party activities.
Talking to media, Mr. Mulayam termed it as sheer indiscipline and said that Ram Gopal has no power to call such meeting without the consent of national president of the party. Mulayam Singh said that Ram Gopal Yadav has damaged the party and gravely misguided Akhilesh Yadav. When asked about who will replace Akhilesh Yadav as the next Chief Minister, an annoyed Mulayam Singh said that he is yet to take a decision.
Reacting to his expulsion, Ramgopal Yadav said that it is unconstitutional as he has been expelled within half hour of serving show cause notice to him. Mulayam Singh Yadav has called a meeting of all the party candidates at 10.30 AM tomorrow. CM Akhilesh Yadav has also called a similar meeting at his residence at 9.30 in the morning.
Reacting on the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s expulsion from the Samajwadi Party, BJP today said the people of Uttar Pradesh have already rejected Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his expulsion from the Party will not have much impact in the upcoming assembly polls.
Party Secretary Shrikant Sharma said, the polls in the State will be on the agenda of performance and development and casteism and nepotism will be rejected. He alleged that Mr. Yadav has failed to fulfill his promises made during the last assembly polls. Mr. Sharma said, in family-centered parties, if the family breaks up, the party also scatters.
Earlier CM Akhilesh Yadav has clearly taken a path which leads to direct conflict with father Mulayam Singh Yadav and it has resulted in utter chaos and confusion among the party leaders, the workers and party sympathizers.
He has issued the list of his own 235 candidates, Mr Akhilesh Yadav has asked them to go to their constituencies and fight for the elections.
Several of his candidates have even started exhibiting bill boards depicting themselves as Samajwadi Party candidate. Meanwhile, Mr Shivpal Yadav, who earlier today issued a revised list replacing three candidates, is meeting Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Meanwhile political experts smell a possible alliance of Akhilesh’s faction with Congress as Akhilesh has not declared candidates on the seats where Congress has sitting MLAs or it is a Congress strong hold.
