New Delhi:
The Samajwadi Party family drama today took another interesting turn when party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav declared that there was no rift in the party, but accused his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav of misguiding his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
However, despite the claim of all being well within the party, Mr Mulayam went to the Election Commission with documentary proof of the faction led by him of enjoying the support of the majority of legislators, and he was followed by the rival Akhlesh camp with Prof Gopal visiting the Commission to file the rival claim to the party name and the symbol ‘cycle’.
Intensifying his fight against Prof Gopal, Mr Mulayam also communicated to Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari that the former had been expelled from the party, so he could no more be the leader of the party in the Upper House.
