Maharashtra has decided to use stringent MACOCA law against the hoarders and black marketeers while the state machinery began large-scale raids on suspected hording of pulses by the commercial establishments.

It has also imposed stock limits on pulses, edible oil and edible oil seeds on the lines of the measures recently taken by the Union Government.

At a press conference in Mumbai Tuesday, Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Girish Bapat said hoarders will be booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act, MCOCA, and various other sections under the Essential Commodities Act. The minister said raids have already been conducted across 270 places in the state.

Madhya Pradesh State Government  has also enforced the Stock Limit and Control Order on Trading of Pulses last week to check prices. As a result, prices of pulses have shown a declining trend.
