Curfew has been lifted from Mandsaur town in Madhya Pradesh as it remained peaceful though prohibitory orders will continue in the city. Families of four farmers, who died in police firing in Mandsour district met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bhopal last evening.
Mr. Chouhan is on indefinite fast at Bhopal’s BHEL Dusshera maidan for restoration of peace in the state. The families requested the Chief Minister to end the fast and appealed the farmers not to resort to violence. Relatives of the deceased farmers demanded action against the policemen who were responsible for the firing.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured representatives of farmers organization that every step will be taken to address their valid issues. He announced that an ordinance will be brought to ensure that farmers receive fair compensation on acquiring of their land. He said brokerage will be reduced from eight to two per cent on fruits and vegetables. Families of the farmers, who were killed in Tuesday firing in Mandsaur district demanded action against the policemen responsible for the firing.
Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Thawarchand Gehlot and BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya visited Mr. Chouhan at the place of fast last evening. Meanwhile the situation in Mandsour is totally normal and curfew has been lifted from Mandsaur town. Prohibitory orders will continue in the city. There was also no report of violence from other framers agitation affected areas.
