Congress party today registered emphatic victory over BJP in Ratlam-Jhabua Lok Sabha By elections in Madhya Pradesh. The bypoll held in the wake of the BJP’s rout in Bihar. Congress Candidate Kanti Lal Bhuria won by more than 88000 vote defeating BJP candidate Nirmala Bhuria. The saffron party won the seat in 2014.

The ruling party, however, retained the Dewas Assembly constituency by an impressive margin.

BJP’s Gayatri Raje Puar won the bypoll from Dewas Assembly seat by an impressive margin of 30,778 votes, defeating Congress’ Jai Prakash Shastri, an election official said.

Puar got 89,358 votes, while Shastri secured 58,580 votes in the bypoll necessitated by the death of Gayatri’s husband Tukoji Rao Puar of erstwhile royal family of Dewas.

Meanwhile TRS retains Warangal (SC) Lok Sabha seat in Telangana with its candidate Pasunoori Dayakar winning with a margin of nearly 4.6 lakh votes.

In Manipur, BJP has won both Thangmeiband and Thongju seats in the by-election of the two assembly constituencies. In Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency, Khumukcham Joykishan of BJP defeated his nearest rival Jyotin Waikhom of ruling Congress in the state by 1907 votes. In Thongju Assembly Constituency, Thongam Bishwajit of BJP defeated his nearest rival Bijoy Koijam of Congress by 3123 votes.

In Mizoram, the ruling Congress party candidate Lal Thanzara defeated his nearest rival Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate K Vanlalvena in the prestigious Aizawl North-III bye election by 3,385 votes.

In Meghalaya, the region party of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) retained the Nongstoin Assembly seat. HSPDP candidate, Diosstarness Jyndiang won the seat defeating his nearest Congress rival Gabriel Wahlang by a margin of 2764 votes.
