The Madhya Pradesh government has banned the sale of liquor in 17 religious towns of the state. This decision was made in the state cabinet meeting held today in Maheshwar, Khargone district, known as the holy city of Lokmata Ahilyabai.
This decision will come into effect on April 1. 47 liquor shops in 17 religious towns will be completely closed, and these shops will not be relocated. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav informed the media about this decision.
The 17 religious towns include Ujjain Municipal Corporation, Datia, Panna, Mandla, Multai, Mandsaur, Maihar, and the municipal council areas of Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Orchha, Chitrakoot, and Amarkantak. The existing policy of liquor prohibition will continue within a radius of five kilometres in Salkanpur Mata Mandir, Barman Kala, Barman Khurd, Kundalpur, and Bandakpur at the Gram Panchayat level.
