Weathermen predicted rain and thundershowers along with thunder squall in some areas of Delhi today.

Rain and thunder shower continued to lash eastern Uttar Pradesh. Met Department says, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Nazimabad, Kanpur, Varanasi, Basti and Lucknow experienced heavy rain.

In Jharkhand, rain has disrupted normal life in Army cantonment town and state capital Ranchi . The met department has predicted that the rain will continue today.

Meanwhile, heavy rain claimed the lives of two people in Bankura district of West Bengal yesterday, taking the overall death toll to eight.

Flood situation in northern Orissa continues to be grim with several low-lying areas getting submerged and paddy fields inundated. The swollen Baitarani river affected many low-lying areas of Keonjhar, Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts.

Monson is now fully active in Uttar Pradesh. Jhansi and Varanasi divisions have witnessed heavy rainfall during last twenty four hours. A woman died in an incident of wall collapse in Ghazipur district.

In Madhya Pradesh, the monsoon has further advanced towards Jabalpur and Sagar divisions. During the last 24 hours several parts of Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Sagar, Chambal, Gwalior and Hoshangabad divisions experienced rains. The Met Department has warned of heavy downpour in these areas in the next 48 hours.
