RAIPUR/ PATNA (AMN): Nine security personal were killed in two separate Naxal related violence in Chhattisgarh and Bihar. Five security personnel were killed in a Naxal ambush, suspected to have been laid to trap a senior Chhattisgarh minister, in the wee hours of Sunday in the Kanker district. Same day four Bihar police personnel were killed in a fierce encounter between Maoists and police near Punadih village under Kajra police station in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district.

 

In Chhattisgarh the killed security personnel include three Border Security Force (BSF) jawans besides a policeman from District Force (DF) and a Special Police Officer (SPO). This is the first time when BSF suffered casualties while combating the naxal here

 

A police spokesman said that a helicopter has been pressed into service to airlift the injured security personnel while an additional reinforcement has been sent to the area to carryout combing operations in the nearby forests. The rebels had also blocked roads at several places in the area

 

On the other hand Bihar DGP Neelmani said that a Lakhisarai police team comprising BMP, SAP, CRPF jawans raided a major Naxal hideout deep inside the hills at Shetalkorani, about 10 km from Kajra, located on the border of Lakhisarai, Munger and Jamui districts.

 

He added that additional forces comprising CRPF, COBRA and STF jawans have been rushed to the encounter site. IG (Operations), besides ADG BMP have also rushed there to monitor the operation.
