In Mizoram, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has decided to vote opposition candidate Meira Kumar in the forthcoming presidential election.This was decided at a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party chaired by Chief Minster & President of Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee Lal Thanhawla.

The ruling Congress has 34 MLAs in the 40-member Mizoram Legislative Assembly. On the other hand, opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), which has five legislators in the Assembly will vote for the NDA nominee Ram Nath Govind.
The MNF is a constituent of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).
