Middle and high hills received fresh snowfall while the lower region experienced scattered rains in Himachal Pradesh. Fresh snowfall brings cheer to tourists, farmers, hoteliers and orchardists. Our correspondent from Shimla reports that several arterial routes in high altitude areas have been disrupted due to heavy snowfall.
People are facing severe cold after a fresh spell of snowfall in the last 24 hours. Major tourist destinations Shimla, Manali Dalhousie and Kufri received fresh snowfall, yesterday night.
Shimla city received the season’s first snowfall, bringing cheer among tourists, hoteliers and local residents. Kufri in Shimla district witnessed 30 cm snowfall followed by 32 cm in Dalhousie.
Due to heavy snowfall national highway, 5 and many circuit roads connecting villages of high altitude areas have been blocked.
Administration of hilly areas has pressed man and machinery to clear snowbound roads on for war footing for smooth movement of vehicular traffic. The State Meteorological Department has predicted clear weather from tomorrow, onwards.
