Ministry of Home Affairs has recommended a preliminary enquiry by CBI into the alleged irregularities in procurement of one thousand low-floor buses by Delhi government.
Official Sources said, the matter has been examined in the Home Ministry and with the approval of competent authority, the DoPT has been requested to take necessary action for undertaking Preliminary Enquiry in the matter by CBI.
The Delhi government has been informed about the CBI probe in a letter to the Chief Secretary by Additional Secretary (UT) in Home Ministry.
Earlier, a three-member committee formed by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal in June had found procedural flaws in the AMC and recommended scrapping it. The Lieutenant Governor had referred the matter to Home Ministry last month for its consideration.
