Jubilation in Grand Alliance camp
With the all available trends for result of the Bihar Assembly elections CM Nitish Kumar led RJD+JDU+CONG Maha Gatbandhan is all set to form government in Bihar as opposition BJP alliance is far behind in the race with mere 70 seat.
JDU Alliance have already taken lead in 158 seat. BJP + is 74
According to the latest leads, the Grand Alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress was leading in 146 seats in the state. Celebrations had started at the RJD and JDU office in Patna.
In early morning when trends suggested the BJP+ alliance was in the lead, party workers had begun celebrations at the BJP’s headquarters. The party even ordered 100 kg of laddoos and firecrackers after initial trends of the vote count had showed that the party was ahead of its rivals.
Party | Lead | Won | Tot |
BJP+ | 74 | 0 | 91 |
JDU+ | 158 | 0 | 121 |
Others | 11 | 0 | 8 |
Result will be significant in several ways. This is the first election of JD (U) after it parted ways with BJP. JD(U) in the company of BJP had come to power in 2005 after ending 15 years long rule of Lalu Prasd and Rabari Devi.
But this time JD (U) entered into an alliance with RJD and congress to stop BJP led NDA in the state. At the same time BJP led NDA would also get know if its bid to to capture power in Bihar under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked to their advantage or not.
Former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi who broke away from JD (U) and formed Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will also face an acid test.
