BSP Supremo Mayawati and RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad yadav have joined those demanding probe into ‘encounter’ of 8 SIMI activists in Bhopal. They ter the encounter ‘dubious’ and demanded judicial probe into who incident.

“Agar woh zinda pakde ja sakte the to unhen goli kyon mari gayi” asked Mayawati.

Ms. Mayawati alleged police were being misused for “political greed” and pushing the “agenda of the RSS” in the BJP-ruled States. She said based on the accounts of the Madhya Pradesh police, the SIMI activists were “unarmed” and “could have been arrested (captured) again easily.” However, “no such attempt was made,” the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.

She said fingers were being raised on the authenticity of the jailbreak and the encounter that followed.

Ms. Mayawati alleged that it was well known that the police were being “misused for political and communal” reasons in the State ruled by the BJP. Targeting the Shivraj Chouhan-led BJP government, she said the State police did not probe the “bloody Vyapam scam” independently and let off scot-free those close to the government.

Lalu Prasad Yadav has demanded a high-level impartial probe into the killing of eight undertrial Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists in an alleged “encounter” with police in Bhopal.

“There should be a high-level impartial probe into the killing of the eight activists of SIMI,” Lalu Prasad told the media

Lalu Prasad said only a high-level probe would clear the suspense over whether it was a real or fake “encounter” that followed the escape of the men from the Bhopal Central Jail.

NHRC issues notices to MP officials over killing of SIMI under trial prisoners

Yesterday Congress and CPM demanded a judicial probe into the police killing of eight SIMI activists, raising doubts about the story behind the jailbreak in Bhopal.

“I am demanding a judicial probe because even the government must know under what circumstances they escaped. People of the state and country must know how terrorists with with such a record were able to escape from such a high security jail and within hours caught and shot dead,” Congress leader Kamal Nath, a Lok Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh, said.

CPI-M’s Brinda Karat termed the official version of the incident as “highly dubious and suspicious”. She said the versions of state government and police were “contradictory”.

“Therefore, to get to the truth, it is essential to have an independent probe under a high court judge and should be time-bound because nobody can believe what seems to be a highly manufactured version,” she said. Karat said those killed were undertrials and dubbing them as terrorists amounted to “subverting the law”.

Terming the encounter of 8 SIMI activists by Madhya Pradesh ATS as ‘dubious’, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi today demanded an inquiry by Supreme Court to bring out “all facts”.
