Noted Islamic scholar Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari has been re-elected as as National President (Ameer) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind for third term consecutively. He was elected in 5-day session of the highest body of Jamaat – House of Representatives (Majlis-e-Numaindgan) comprising 144 members. Umri is elected for term April 2015 – March 2019.
Maulana Umeri was Born in 1935 in North Arcot district of Tamilnadu obtained his honours from Aligarh Muslim University After completion of his studies at Umerabad. He is an eminent Islamic intellectual, author, educationalist, and reform leader in India. He has authored more than thirty books and numerous research articles on diverse subjects with Islamic perspective. In 1970 he associated himself with JIH Department of Research and Writing and currently an editor of its renowned quarterly journal “Taheqeeqate-Islami “he also served the organization at different levels and from last two teams he is JIH supreme as Ameer jamaat-e-islami Hind.
